The artist’s life began for Carolyn Young as a very young child and has progressed through many metamorphoses and many “detours." The native of Corpus Christi, Texas spent much of her growing up time on the beaches of Mustang and Padre Island where she developed a deep affinity for the ocean.
She attended college in Nashville, Tennessee where she majored in theatre, and received a BA degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy at the University of Texas at Austin which climaxed her college years. 
In the interim years there have been many outlets for creativity.  As a wife and mother of two daughters she was involved in numerous art-related projects.  Because of her husband's business interests at South Padre Island, Texas, the family spent a great deal of time there.  As a result, her work is strongly influenced by her family and the environment of life close to the Gulf Coast.  
After a period of involvement with other creative interests (Carolyn T. Young Stationery)*, Carolyn once again focused on her own fine art career.  She went back to school to receive both a Master of Arts degree in Studio Art and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi and has taught there as an adjunct professor.  She also taught a summer semester in Florence, Italy with Santa Reparata International School of Art.
Locally Carolyn has participated as a volunteer in promoting the arts over many years.  Initially she created the first docent program for the Art Museum of South Texas (Centennial Art Museum), the first docent program for the Art Mobile of South Texas and has participated in many workshops and exhibits.  She has served as a volunteer on numerous boards and committees in leadership capacities and has served on the Board of Trustees of the Art Museum of South [...]
