An example of fine art by Carolyn Shelburne

A Brownie Scout field trip to the North Carolina Museum of Art sparked my interest in the making of art.  Growing up in an area where there were few opportunities for studies in realism, I fed my interest by visiting museums until I moved to Massachusetts and took classes in technique at the Massachusetts College of Art, Montserrat College of Art, and Cambridge Center for Adult Education. On moving to Atlanta I enrolled in classes at Georgia State University and the Atlanta College of Art.  Over time my art education has expanded through the study of modern masters--Andrew Wyeth, John Singer Sargent, Cecilia Beaux and Joaquin Sorolla being my favorites--and training and workshops with living masters such as Michael Shane Neal, Joseph Fettingis, Mary Carter Baumgaertner, Marc Chatov, Thomas V. Nash, Bill Davidson, Sherrie McGraw, and David Leffel.  I have been a Juried Member of the Portrait Society of Atlanta, the Georgia Ambassador for the Portrait Society of America, and am the current Portrait Society of America National Coordinator for the State Ambassador Program.  My favorite mediums are graphite, watercolor, and oil.
