Nationally recognized artist Carolyn Hesse-Low graduated from University of California and continued her training at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California. In the style of the early California Impressionists, her landscapes, figures and marine subjects capture the changing mood and rugged beauty of what she sees. "I am attracted to the feeling that a scene offers. What appeals to me is a subject that has depth to explore, one that can reveal the feelings within ourselves."
Carolyn's paintings have been shown in over 75 museum exhibitions and in countless galleries and art institutes nationally. She has been selected to paint in plein air invitational and juried events throughout the country.
Carolyn was the cover feature artist in the September 2016 issue of PleinAir Magazine. Her work has been featured in Southwest Art, American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur and Art of the West magazines. Her work also appears in several books, including California Light, A Century of Landscapes and Land of Sunlight: Paintings of San Diego County. Her work has received numerous awards, including Best of Show at San Luis Obispo Art Museum, Best Studio Landscape Award from PleinAir Salon, Publisher’s Choice Award from PleinAir Magazine, and Award of Excellence at Plein Air Southwest Salon. 
Carolyn Hesse-Low is a Signature Member of American Society of Marine Artists, American Impressionist Society, National Watercolor Society, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, National Oil and Acrylic Painters Society, and Outdoor Painters Society. She is an Artist Member of the California Art Club. Her work is represented in national and international collections.
