Carol grew up on the west coast of British Columbia watching her father paint landscapes in oil.  Forty years ago, her brother Wilf Warkentin began his career painting in acrylics.  In 2003 Carol was motivated to begin painting as well.
Carol worked for many years in Television Production before leaving that to work in construction on a tugboat for seven years.  Working on a boat off the west coast of BC and Washington moved her to paint scenes from her life at sea.  She is fascinated with the spectacular beauty of the Rocky Mountains and paints mountain landscapes as well as the picturesque Shuswap.  More recently she has been creating unique fabric sculptures and is learning how to carve soapstone.
Carol has learned to sew quilts, table runners, placemats, purses, bags, wallets, wall hangings, walker bags and plans to sew landscape wall hangings.
Carol has taken many workshops with Terry Isaac and some workshops with Jonn Einerssen and Vance Theoret.  Sharyn Olfert, Judy McKenzie, Wilf Warkentin, Sherri Pratt and Sandra Van Den Ham also contributed to her knowledge.
Carol participated in the 2006 Mikkelson Festival of the Arts in South Surrey.  She also displayed her art in the foyer of the Newland's Golf Course for eight months in 2007.  Her art was entered in the Affordable Art Fair at the Shuswap Art Gallery in 2011 and also in the Shuswap Lake Festival of the Arts in 2011, 2012 and 2013.  She has been an member of the Blind Bay Painters art group since 2012 and participated in their yearly art show since then.  Her paintings are displayed in retirement homes and Sorrento's Steamers Coffee Co.  She is part of an art collaborative at the Reedman Gallery in the Blind Bay Hall for July and August each year.
