An example of fine art by Carol Rufenach

Photo of Carol Rufenach

Art has always been part of my life. Encouragement from a high school art teacher led to a degree in fine art and education. Teaching was good but painting is better. My husband and I travel quite a lot so there is never a shortage of inspiring scenery. A small kit of watercolors is always in my bag and I have many pads of visual journals stacked in my studio. When I can, I pack a few canvases and a portable easel for painting on site.  More recently I had an opportunity to study with Ernesto de la Pena Folch in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Amy Guillon Clay in Boulder, CO.  Both expressionistic painters  who opened the door to working in a less realistic manner by using more experimental processes. I'm currently attracted to pattern and texture, flat obscured imagery and a variety of techiques.,....photo transfers, collage, sanding, stencils, layering, etc.
