Photo of Carol Montgomery

Carol Montgomery, originally from Southern California, makes her home in Brooklyn, New York.
She is a professor emerita at LaGuardia Community College and has taught at the Steinhardt School of Education at NYU.
She has been painting watercolors since childhood. She has studied for many years with Frederick Wong at the Art Students League of New York and has taken a number of workshops with Eric Wiegardt and Ted Nuttall.
She paints portraits, figures, flowers, cityscapes and landscapes, but she finds painting en plein air most enjoyable while most challenging. She likes to portray people in a natural environment, drawing the viewer into the particular atmosphere she experiences.
Most of her work consists of paintings. However, she also makes original watercolor cards and will make them on commission.
She has shown her work at the Art Students League of New York, the National Arts Club and the Office of the Borough of Manhattan President, the Northeast Watercolor Society Show,  the Annual Spring Exhibition of Grand Central Neighborhood Services,  the Pillow Cafe and Kos Kaffe. She is a member of the Vermont Watercolor, the Art Students League and the Art Slope Multi-Arts Festival.
