Biography
Education: A. A. Fine and Applied Arts
Santa Fe Junior College
B. S. University of Houston
When I begin a painting, I am inspired by color. I enjoy painting a variety of subject matter, working on the play of light and colors. Painting common sights and scenes, I use light and its absence to add drama and tension. Favorite themes are the exquisite landscapes of the Southern lowcountry.
Through painting, I investigate the experience of time, place and feeling in the landscape along with human interaction. I approach each painting from an impressionistic standpoint, developing into a realistic quality.
Working from my home based studio, my paintings are the result of a combination of my own photographic references, direct observation and imagination. Oils are my medium of choice because of their buttery texture and the richness of color.
I continually study with prominent artists to improve my craft. Memberships include TELFAIR MUSEUMS, AVERITT CENTER FOR THE ARTS, AND WOMEN PAINTERS OF THE SOUTHEAST.
Born and raised in Pembroke, Georgia, I reside at my ancestoral home place, SAVAGE CREEK FARMS, a registered GEORGIA CENTENNIAL FAMILY FARM.
