C.W. Nave      (American, B. 1951)
C.W. Nave was influenced to become an artist by her great-aunt, Mary Webster who was a noted artist/sculptor in Chicago, Illinois. Her art training was short-circuited when she became involved with the race horse world, becoming an exercise rider, trainer, and eventually manager of the yearling program at the oldest continuous thoroughbred farm in Kentucky, Runnymede Farm. In 1978, after twelve years working in the racehorse industry, all the while painting horses, the artist developed an interest in the American Academy of Equine Art. Her first painting was accepted into a juried show with the AAEA.
Then she began her art career in earnest. She became a Full Member of the American Academy of Equine Art after the required juried shows and development of her career. She started painting and photographing concurrently, becoming an award winning photographer and painter.
Her paintings were collected by corporate and private collectors, including most notably Brown-Forman Corp and Captain Mark Phillips-Great Britain's Olympic eventing rider and American Olympic team trainer.
Her painting "The Late Foal" won top painting prize in the retrospective AAEA  20th Fall Exhibition of Prize winners from the past 20 years of AAEA prize winners. “The Late Foal” also won first prize Equifestival sponsored by American Academy of Equine Art at Cross Gate Gallery, Lexington, KY.
Nave was featured in Summer '88 issue of Equine Images
She has juried art exhibitions, served as featured speaker for art groups, and held painting workshops.
