An example of fine art by Bryan Fair

Photo of Bryan Fair

I am a native of Central Virginia, born in Richmond and now making my home in Buckingham County where I was raised.
A love of drawing the human face and form led me to study commercial art at Virginia Commonwealth University but it wasn’t until I moved to Northern Virginia that I discovered oil painting. I devoted every spare moment to taking workshops and vowed to master this new passion.
A move to Los Angeles enabled me to study with well-known California figurative painters and over my thirteen years there I showed my work in galleries in West Hollywood, North Hollywood and throughout the San Fernando Valley. My work has won awards and has been used by independent filmmakers for film projects as well as television.
My affinity for classic film informs my aesthetic and my “Hollywood” pieces were a favorite at regular shows held at a local gallery in L.A. My work was also accepted to hang alongside film industry art directors.
My aim with my work is to capture both the stillness of a moment and the movement of emotion through my realistic yet slightly impressionistic style. My palette is limited which I feel adds to the unity and harmony of color. I love the planes of the human face and I sometimes leave the evidence of these observations while carefully modeling a few areas of interest. It is my intention to represent my subjects in a way that is evocative and resonant with the viewer.
