"I love the challenge of painting outdoors and aspiring to capture the feeling of the scene before me. I believe works painted on location are much more honest and satisfying."Bruce grew up in Massachusetts where he attended the New England School of Art and Design in Boston. He then worked as a sculptor and mold maker, traveling to restore the decorative plaster work in some of the most prominent historical buildings in the US,including the City of Paris building in San Francisco,CA, Mechanics Hall in Worcester,MA and the State House in Hartford, CT. Then, in 1985, Bruce and his partner started a plaster design and restoration business. The company is well known for its fine craftsmanship and artistry, and continues to restore and provide custom plasterwork to many historically significant buildings and fine residences.Bruce's devotion to developing his painting has continued throughout the years. He has painted around New England, as well as in Italy, the United Kingdom and Canada. He feels fortunate to paint with many of New England's finest painters, most notably the Master Painter, Don Stone. "Don has been a major influence on me, not only for sharing his knowledge of plein air painting, but introducing me to the scope of other fine painters such as Emille Gruppe, John Carlson, and Aldro Hibbard."Bruce's work has been accepted in many juried shows and wasawarded the Juror's choice award in 2008 and the Viewer's choice award in 2007 at the Lamprey Arts juried shows in Concord, NH. Bruce's work is in private collections throughtout the US and represented in Massachusetts,New Hampshire and Maine galleries.
