Biography
Growing up on the Jersey shore, I was just another surf bum hanging out in Seaside Heights, N.J. ....Now famous for it's T.V. series "The Jersey Shore" I can't say I always wanted to become an artist since the age of 3 or 5 or 10. I did have Art Lessons, however, That was after I got thrown out of the one Art class St. Joseph's High School offered. Catholic school was not big on the arts back then. After graduating college with a BFA in Studio Art, I got a job in Philadelphia as a Graphic Designer. I also started creating large serigraphs in small editions and exhibiting them in the Philadelphia area. I then got married and lived in Haddonfield , New Jersey for 25 years. During that time I got into realistic imagery incorporating 10 to 15 color separations depicting everything from a series of Philadelphia street vendors, Industrial sites and victorian home facades. Encouraged by numerous trips to the tropics, I created a genre of beach images, which evolved into a variety of techniques. silkscreen , monotype and blind embosssings using a Intaglio press. My wife then packed our son and I up and moved us to a new job in Austin, Texas .... In my current work I go back to my abstract printmaking roots utilizing Serigraphy, monotype , handmade and decorative papers and collage as a means to create One of a kind pieces . I apply silkscreen layers of transparent color on Paper and Canvas using hand cut and torn stencils. Adding monotype and inserting other media from handmade paper to mixed media as collage.
