"For over forty years I have been passionately portraying the countryside and gardens of both Ontario and my homeland, England."
"Every day in the presence of nature we have an  invitation to observe the beauty and drama of a new landscape; these are the
fleeting moments that drive me to paint!" "Throughout our changing seasons there is always a promise of new inspiration in the landscape for me. That  luminescence that embraces the landscape just before sunset  is such a special time of day for me to portray, always an exciting challenge ! "
Born in Yorkshire, England 1956 Brian's love of the lush dales was instilled early and continues with annual painting trips.
Moving to Canada at the age of seven he embraced the rural landscape of southern Ontario, joining an active scout troop and hiking throughout the Bruce Trail. Brian  was exposed to the farms and diverse rural countryside that continues to inspire him to this day!  He spends time observing and soaking up his environment ready to paint that unique play of fleeting light on the landscape or animal . Small detailed nature  studies have always been part of Brian's work to help him understand the details for a larger painting.
Composition is critical to his well developed pieces and studying the many greens in nature has given him a keen observation of its many nuances. His portrait work has won him numerous awards and using the finest pigments from around the world he now  paints exclusively with oils on fine linen.
Influences of Andrew Wyeth, , Raymond Ching and Alex Colville all seep into his fine paintings . Studies at Doon School of Fine art, Art Gallery of Burlington, Dundas Valley School of Art and Sheridan College completed his early  formal education.
With awards including the Canadian Society of painters in Watercolour, International Art [...]
