Photo of Brad Neal

Brad Neal is a drawer and painter who was an architect for over 40 years.  Born in San Diego, he grew up with a strong interest in drawing and went on to study architecture at UC Berkeley and Harvard University and practiced his profession mostly in the Bay Area before moving to Laguna Beach in 2002.
After retiring from the Irvine Company as an architect in 2014, Brad pursued his lifelong interest in art full-time.  To accelerate the process, he went back to school at LCAD where he earned a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Drawing and Painting in 2017.  His art is grounded in realism.  He paints in oils and his mixed media drawings combine watercolors with traditional pen and ink techniques.  His focus is on compelling local sights as well as favorite places and settings that he has discovered while working and travelling over the years, both domestically and abroad.
Brad has been a Laguna Beach Festival of Arts exhibitor since 2018 and has received many awards for his drawings, which have been exhibited in numerous juried group shows and are held in collections throughout the country.  His artwork is currently shown at Studio 7 Gallery in Laguna Beach.
