Biography


Bill was born in Chicago. He graduated the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign, in the Industrial Design curriculum. While teaching Industrial Design at North Carolina State University and University of Illinois he started a business career in product design, invention and marketing.  Billʼs first major show of his art was at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago, entitled The Baron & Bailey Light Circus in 1969. He has shown at the University of Illinois Krannert Museum and the North Carolina Museum of Art.
In 1969 Bill left a tenured professorial position at the U of I to pursue commercial work full time.  
Over these commercial years he was involved in executive positions with several national and international companies as well as independent ventures as an entrepreneur.  His last position was as a vice president of a marketing firm traded on the NYSE.
After 25 years, living and working in New York City, Bill  relocated to Taos, New Mexico where he is pursuing his interests in contemporary and western art. He has exhibited in Sedona Art Associationʼs juried, Taste of Taos Show, and was chosen for the Tubac Center For The Arts, Trading Places; Tubac, Taos Show. His sculpture was juried into the prestigious “New Mexico 2000 Show” at the New Mexico Museum of Fine Art in Santa Fe.
 
Bills first one man show in New Mexico was held at the Art Divas Gallery, Taos NM in 2008. The showʼs title; One of The Few Good Men.  The next major one man show, Baron Of Taos was held in 2018 at Taos's Blumenschein Museum.  Over 40 works in oil, watercolor, etching and engraving were shown.
He is an award winning editorial cartoonist for the Taos News and writes and illustrates two bilingual (Spanish-English) comic strips, Umberto and Porcina.
