Betty McGuire is an oil painter working in Northern California.  She enjoys painting plein air as well as in the studio.  Her subjects are varied; California landscapes and seascapes, various animals (especially dogs), and select subjects from her own photos taken on her extensive travels.

She has studied with many plein air instructors, including Will Maller, Scott Hamill, Bill Davidson, and Kathleen Dunphy. She has studied in studio with Carolyn Larsen for many years.
Betty has been in many local juried shows, and has been accepted into several juried plein air competitions such as the Frank Bette Plein Air Paint Out, the Capitola Plein Air Paint Out, and the Mendocino Paint Out.
She considers every painting an adventure, with new problems to solve, and new decisions to make to reach a satisfying conclusion.
