Welcome!  I'm Barbara Louise Pence (just call me Barbara) and I appreciate you stopping by today. Here is some background about myself.
Artistic Discovery
A long career in business prepared me for many sudden changes, but nothing surprised me more than the accidental discovery of my artistic talent. I started doodling one day and was amazed to find that I had drawn a perfect flower.  This was a defining moment and it was the spark that began my art career.  Shortly after, I began to pursue art part time art at San Jose City College.  Eventually I left my high tech job to pursue a formal education full time at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco where I received my BFA in drawing and painting in 2008.
During my formal education, the theme of dogs kept coming to the surface in my art.  Whenever I got to choose the subject, dogs usually found their way somewhere into my project.  This isn’t surprising since I love animals and have had them all my life.  After I graduated, I continued to pursue the topics of pets in my paintings.  I also enjoyed painting still life, abstract painting and doing mixed media art.
I shared my talent weekly in acrylic painting workshops at Michaels. But while my artwork has been in local, national and international shows I was not fully satisfied with painting and drawing. 
Where Did Jewelry Come From?
It was while working at Michaels that I discovered the creative potential of jewelry.  I found that I was consistently drawn to the jewelry aisle.  It was jewelry that made my heart sing so over a period of five years I immersed myself in this medium.
