"All my life I have been an artist and observer.
My first formal art training was at West Virginia University, where I received my B.A. in Fine Art in 1965.  I studied with Joe Moss, an abstract artist and sculptor, who required his students to be able to create realistic renderings before going into extreme abstraction.  His emphasis on the need to see, has helped me develop the allegorical style that I do today.
I work in oil, acrylic and watercolor in my studio on our 1840's farm on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, but I also enjoy painting in plein air.  I gather most of my subject matter on the Eastern Shore or while hunting and fishing around the world.  Time in the field refreshes my art.  It is a balance between rod and gun, painting and sketching, photographing and observing.  Most of all - it is a time to absorb and appreciate the miracles that occur in wild places.
As an artist, conservationist and hunter, I share my passion for pursuing these activities with my husband, Skip, and three working Labs, Rasin, Flame and Banshee.  Much of my artwork has evolved from our common experiences and they are often the subjects of my paintings.  Through my observations and memories, my paintings portray a story of the partnership between the sportsman and his canine companion with wildlife and their surroundings."
