Born in Texas, I enjoyed the rustic landscape and western influences of growing up in San Antonio.  I studied Art Education at Texas Women's University and began my teaching career in Denver Colorado. I also taught art in Air Force schools in the Philippines and Germany. During that time I was exposed to an entirely new dimension of the world around me with visits to the fine art museums of Europe.  I also spent many holidays exploring the stunning scenery to be found in the mountains and small medieval villages. 
Through the years I continued my art explorations and came upon the art of wood carving in Bavaria Germany.  Their woodcarving skills are world renowned. The use of natural woods intrigued me so I began exploring the intricacies of woodcarving.  In trying to add detail I began using pyrography as an accompaniment to my wood carvings.  As I explored "wood burning" with more "professional" help I found that I really enjoy the medium and am amazed at what it can do for special subjects and unique applications.  As "fine art" goes, most consider this a "craft".   The monochromatic aspects of the medium lead to a skill of representing different shades, colors and textures in new ways.  
Currently my work is represented at Alpenglow Images Shop in Estes Park, Colorado, Moosewalk Studios, Vermont and with collectors in Colorado and Missouri.  I recently finished a portrait of an Austrian alpine ibex as a special gift for Trapp Brewery in Stowe, Vermont.  I also provide wolf/wolf dog portraits for W.O.L.F. Sanctuary in Fort Collins, CO for auction at their annual fund-raiser.
