Photo of Barbara Davies

Barbara Davies is an oil painter of landscapes and still life. She received her education at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where she focused on photography. Upon graduation, Davies moved to New York City where she apprenticed with noted photographer Irving Penn and later a career in advertising in both NYC and Boston.
Davies began her fine art painting career after a permanent move to San Diego in 2001.
"I was awe-struck by the incredible beauty and scale of the California coast. Having lived in the Northeast most of my life,  I'd never seen such vibrant light or dramatic coastal landscapes.  I knew I had to capture that beauty. I continue to grow and explore color, light and form in my work.”
Barbara, an award winning artist, has studied with California Impressionists: Catherine Grawin and Mark Kerckhoff among others. She is an Artist Member of the California Art Club and exhibits regularly at regional art shows including the San Diego Artwalk and the San Diego County Fair.
Davies’ paintings are found in collections across the U.S., and abroad.
