The Artist Says:

"The act of painting can be very isolating, by choice of course.  I  paint for myself, but am most flattered when friends and collectors express appreciation for my work.  Those moments of sharing are the times that you treasure, they inspire and motivate you to continue on; to create and enjoy the process".

Barbara paints from the heart!  Always original, always inspiring, always beautiful - each painting is an adventure! - Mary Van Deman Fine Art.

Although known primarily as a pastel painter,  Barbara works in oil, acrylic, and mixed media as well.   These mediums provide the opportunity for her to fill her paintings with rich, juicy color which has become her trademark.  Barbara' painting style combines an impressionistic realism with a contemporary edge, for a truly unique approach.
Barbara comes to her current occupation as a Fine Artist from a background in Interior Design and the influence is evident in her intuitive sense of composition and color.
Her paintings are strongly influenced by her life in the Western United States. Her landscapes reflect both the mountainous regions of her home in Central Oregon and her love of the Desert Southwest. Viewers will find a western attitude in the subjects and colors of both regions reflected in her work.
Barbara holds memberships in the Scottsdale Artists League and Arizona Pastel Artists Association;  her Oregon affiliations include Sagebrusher's Art Society and Plein Air Painters of Oregon. Barbara's art education continues by attending Workshops, Festivals, Museums, Galleries and spending time with her favorite artist mentors.
"I hope that my paintings will assist the viewer to see landscape,  still life,  flower or human form in a whole new way;  to interpret and enjoy what they might not have otherwise seen.  I love the impressionists' approach,  photographic realism, not so much.  I want a recognizable subject for focus, but not to read like a photograph which gives you all the minuscule details;  I want the viewer to finish my painting in their minds eye.   Enjoy."
