I was born in Pittsburgh, PA, but have lived in the southeast since the age of 14 and now reside in Paris, TN.    Besides being a wife and mother of 3 (now grown) , I have been a teacher, a banker, a realtor, and finally am doing what I love best - painting!  I've been working at it now for probably 15 years or so, and consider myself basically self-taught.  The extent of my formal training has been a short stint at the Art Student's League of New York and a few workshops taught by Charlotte Abernathy and one by Jeanne McKenzie.  Much of what I have learned has been from books and dvd's by favorite artists, plus work, work, work!   I have a studio at the Lee School Academy for the Arts in Paris, where I occasionally teach painting classes in oil or acrylic. Getting out into nature with my paints is one of my favorite things to do and I participate in plein air events as often as I can.  I have won my share of local and regional awards, plus a few on the national level, including 3rd place overall in the Prairies to Peaks Plein Air event in Cheyenne, WY, in 2011; People's Choice in Wyoming Plein Air in 2010; finalist in Paint America Top 100 in 2010; a winner in Paint America Second Mini50 in 2009; and a semi-finalist in the American Artist Magazine 70th Anniversary competition in 2007.
My work consists of landscapes, still life, some figure and portrait work, and animals.  Being in nature and experiencing the sun on my face, the feel of the wind and seeing the beauty that is there for the looking is what I love most, and I hope to pass on to the viewers those same sensations.
