     Victoria Harbour based artist Ann Stacey grew up in Toronto.  Ann was always interested in taking something and making it into something else; whether it be creating a wonderful garden out of a patch of clay or garden art made from hypertufa.
     Ann started to paint when she first moved to Mississauga, Ontario and wanted to get to know others in her community with similar interests and painting turned into a passion.  Her creativity has taken many forms; all well working with her hands; whether it be stepping stones made with cement using rhubarb leaves for a pattern, cut glass butterflies and dragon flies embedded in cement to create stepping stones or cement bird baths or planters, but she always ends up with brush in hand sitting at a canvas.
     Different mediums tend to lend themselves better to different paintings and Ann prefers to paint still life in oils, and florals and landscapes in acrylic, but is loving the results of florals in watercolour.  Watercolour is a relatively new medium for Ann that she has taken a serious interest in since moving to the Georgian Bay area.
     Once Ann started painting there was no stopping her, she belongs to various art groups and has travelled to many locations to take new and interesting workshops, always craving more knowledge.  Her paintings have been sold in Mississauga, Toronto, Haliburton and here in Georgian Bay country.  When not busy painting for herself Ann can be found painting Muskoka chairs or tv trays to be auctioned off by either her local church or legion to raise much needed funds, or perhaps murals to grace the bedroom walls of the young members in her large family.
