Artist Ann Patton

An example of fine art by Ann Patton

Photo of Ann Patton

Ann Patton was raised on a large cattle ranch in South Texas, beginning a life of change, growth and discovery.  She found art as a child, and it was a part of her life always.  It became a central focus in 2014.
After years of a career in banking, she married her husband Jim and moved with him to a remote and beautiful cattle ranch in the Huachuca Mountains of Arizona.  They then purchased a small ranch in Central Texas and, after 18 years, retired to a beautiful spot on Mustang Creek in Bosque County, Texas.  She then took up her paintbrush in earnest, having discovered a real love of watercolor in her twenties.  She paints the world that she lives in ....birds, horses, cattle, landscapes, family and friends, or anything else that brings joy and satisfaction.  She and Jim spend their summers near Cloudcroft, enjoying a different world in the mountains and  the desert of New Mexico.
"I love the vibrant, pure colors of watercolor and I strive for transparency and the effect of light in my paintings.  It is a challenging medium, but nothing is more beautiful when you do actually get it right!  The best part of painting to me is when someone looks at my painting and sees and feels what I felt and saw when I did the painting.  Like me, my painting is a work in progress and I hope never to stop learning and growing and painting from my heart!!"
