Artist Ann Johnson

An example of fine art by Ann Johnson

Photo of Ann Johnson

Although I work primarily in watercolor, I have been painting in various media since the age of ten, which led to my studying fine arts at the University of Dayton. An Amesbury resident since 1994, I work from my studio at The Artists’ Muse, concentrating on watercolor to capture both local scenes and impressions from travels around Europe. Much of my recent work has been in oil or pastel, and my portfolio covers a variety of subjects, with an emphasis on landscapes.
As an involved member of the town’s vibrant community of artists, I am particularly active in the encouragement of younger artists through my involvement in programs such as the Art & Jazz programs at the Amesbury Middle School, and the annual Amesbury Youth Art Show, at which over one hundred and fifty young artists from Amesbury and surrounding towns display their creativity.
I have had works accepted to the Marblehead Festival of Arts and various juried shows at the Newburyport Art Association, and have also exhibited at Anna Jaques Hospital and The Provident Bank. I am an active participant in the Amesbury Open Studio Tours, and my paintings can also be seen by appointment at The Artists’ Muse at 9 Water Street in Amesbury.
