An example of fine art by AnneMarie Welsh

My art work is inspired by the the details of nature. Living in Maine offers me so many wonderful visual opportunities--I never feel at a loss for subject matter. I push myself to explore not just the close up, but also a broader representation of my world. I create artwork primarily by drawing and painting with mixed media. I love exploring new materials, currently I am working in watercolor and pastel. I work from life and from my own photographs.
My BFA from Maryland Institute College of Art provided me with a solid foundation in the fine arts. After college graduation I spent many years working as graphic designer running a small design studio. I have returned to painting and drawing which was always my first love. The artists that I find most inspirational are Emily Carr, Georgia O'Keefe, Mondrian, VanGogh, Modigliani, Fred Machetanz and David Blackwood.
I wake up every day excited about working on my art and learning something new about the world around me. I live on the coast of Maine and travel regularly to our little beach cottage on the Outer Banks of North Carolina.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or if you interested in purchasing something. I don't generally do commissions, but I actually love suggestions! If you are interested in something in particular--let me know!
