The Artist Says:

"My goal as an artist is to capture the essence of life and spirit through the mediums of water, oil and ink. When choosing a subject, I go with what brings joy to my life. My creativity originates with a deep love and respect for the Earth and her many creatures great and small. Connected we are in a gossamer web of light and color. More than half of my paintings are completed plein air where I can enjoy the beauty of nature in all its forms."   -- Anna Jacke

Anna's passion for art has been a life-long journey of creativity through art, photography, poetry and freelance writing. It all began with formal education and workshops during the progressive 70's in her home state of Connecticut. After retiring from a 35 year career as a senior paralegal and full-charge bookkeeper, she continued her studies in art and digital media at Community School of Music & Arts in Mountain View, California. Thereafter, she took intensive workshops with master artists such as Don Andrews, Stephen Quiller, Brenda Swenson, Karen Frey, Cathy Quiel, Jerry Stitt, Birgit O'Connor, Roland Lee, Annelein Beukenkamp and Bill Dunn. She continues to refine her unique style with online watercolor and oil workshops and critiques via Zoom.

Since 2009, Anna's artwork and photography have been exhibited in more than 50 group, solo, regional and national juried art shows in California, Oregon and Massachusetts. Her work has also appeared in newspapers and publications including Southwest Art Magazine and The Artistic Touch 6.  She has acted an as art juror in the Bay Area, and taught watercolor classes at the MECA Center for the Arts in McMinnville, Oregon.

Anna now lives in Belchertown, Massachusetts where she maintains a home studio and paints plein air with several plein air painting groups. Her work has expanded into torn paper and mixed media collage, and more recently, alcohol inks.
