Amy E. Sidrane is a Contemporary Landscape Artist whose roots follow in the tradition of Russian landscape painters.  Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Amy began drawing and painting at a very young age due to her insatiable fascination with the visual world.
In 1979, she was awarded a full scholarship to study art with the renowned Russian Impressionist, Sergei Bongart. While at the Bongart School of Art in Los Angeles, CA, as well as Rexburg, ID, she developed a strong, traditional foundation in aesthetics. Amy holds close to heart one of Sergei’s most powerful promises: “I will give you the language, so you have an understanding of what you do naturally.”
As it is really one's life experiences that continually shape an artist, and by giving voice to the inner prompting to create, Amy embarked on the next stage of her journey, enabling her to develop her own unique style. She continues to develop her work through her observations and experiences, inhabiting a geography of place garnered from travel here in the United States and abroad.
In 1998, Amy was awarded the Gold Medal for “Best Landscape” painting at the California Art Club’s 89th Annual Gold Medal Exhibition, where she is a Signature Member. She exhibited with The Portuguese Bend Artist Colony in Palos Verdes Estates, CA, as well as in fine art galleries and Museums in New Mexico, Arizona, Idaho, Colorado and California, most notably, the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art, Monterey, CA, Springville Museum of Art in Utah, The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, The Bowers Museum of Cultural Art, Santa Ana, CA, the Pasadena Museum of California Art, Pasadena, CA, and The Autry National Center, Los Angeles CA.
Amy currently resides in North Idaho, an area that provides the quintessential quiet and elemental inspiration she needs as an artist. [...]
