The Artist Says:

"There are people who try...and fail. Then, they try again only to fail slightly less. Encouraged by this they push forward and try again. And again. And again. Pretty soon they are making headway. There are other people who mentally anticipate their failure and refuse to try at all. Be a trier. Especially if it scares you. There's something waiting for you out there in the unknown." -Amy Shaw

Other Artists Say:

"As a lifetime artist, occasionally you come across another artist that inspires you, pushes you to better work, even if that work is vastly different than your own.  Amy Shaw is one of those special folk.  Amy is a lifetime learner, out of the box, unafraid, a gambler with color and technique that leads to excellence." -Mimi Berraras

Creating is my natural set point. I cannot not create! It is what puts the joy in my sails and allows me to feel fully alive! As a wife and mother of 10, I find myself creating in different mediums all around…from haircuts to cooking to decorating cakes and even our home. I can’t help it! Creating fine art has become a new found passion and genuine joy that allows me to breathe amidst the heavy burdens of parenting special needs children and caregiving for my husband who is fighting terminal brain cancer. My subject matter tends to come back to people and color. Creating art allows me to tease out the joy that can sometimes lie covered over in layers of exhaustion, anxiety and heaviness. I trust that as others view, choose and display my work that they too would feel that sense of lightness and hope.
"All art that really draws us to look at it deeply is spiritual. Art accepts all the sadness and transforms it implicitly, affirming that beauty is essentially the presence of God."
— Wendy Beckett, British nun and historian, born February 25, 1930
