Painting the landscapes and urban neighborhoods of the Midwest, especially Wisconsin, has become my passion.  I paint outdoors on location in a  plein air style as well as in my studio.  I hope to capture an emotional expression with the spontaneous beauty of watercolors. Themes of nature, urban landscapes and special qualities of light are my favorite subjects.
I have a background in fine art and art therapy.  From as early as I can remember, I wanted to be an artist.  After learning from some of Wisconsin pioneering artists such as John Colt, Lawrence Rathsack and Guido Brink, I made room for art while raising a family and trying many other jobs. The most important direction I took was choosing watercolor, which shaped the way I see and approach a painting.  Watercolor is a viable, instantly responsive medium.  Its' sparkle, transparency and freshness are unparalleled.
Since going public in shows, exhibitions and competitions, I have had many new experiences and opportunities.  I've shown in Cedarburg, Madison and in galleries throughout Wisconsin.  I have exhibited the Cedarburg Strawberry, Wine & Harvest and Holiday Art Festivals annually for the past 25 years.   I also hold an Open Studio Tour in my home studio each October.  I exhibited in the Madison Art Fair On the Square and in Watercolor Wisconsin 2019 at the RAM Wustum Museum of Art, where I won a second Purchase Award for the Museum's Permanent Collection.  My paintings are in the corporate collections of Northwestern Mutual Insurance Company, Robert W. Baird Company, Pauline Haas Sussex Public Library, Culvers Restaurant, Atlas Copco Company, the Racine Art Museum's Permanent Collection, and St.Mary's Hospital, Mequon.
