An example of fine art by Diane White

Having moved several times while growing up, I find home is a warm and familiar feeling and not a specific place. My representational local oil landscape paintings are inspired by my Midwestern and Montana roots. Certain landscapes are nostalgic and make me feel at home. My mission is to create landscapes that embrace the viewer and capture the warmth and familiarity of home through nature.

Some of nature’s visual interest for me are the colors and reflections in a stream, vegetation and tree branches that hide part of a mountain vista, steam coming off a body of water, the dark clouds of an impending storm and the color and textures of nature in the different seasons.

I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Art from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls in the 1980s and started my art business after I retired from the State of Montana in 2016. My studio is located in my home in Clancy, Montana, in the country, on Warm Springs creek, near the Helena National Forest and Elkhorn mountains, next to a natural hot-springs.
