Biography


 
Harold Walkup is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Northwest Watercolor Society,
Western Federation of Watercolor Societies and the Watercolor Society of Oregon.




His works are in public and private collections throughout the U.S. and in other countries, including Russia, Spain and South America. Walkup’s paintings have received many national and regional awards, including The Grumbacher Silver Medal, Winsor Newton Painting Award, Watercolor Society of Oregon Best of Show and recent 2nd and 5th places in the Northwest Watercolor Society Exhibitions in Seattle, Washington.
Harold's paintings have been featured by Northlight Publishing in “Splash 4”, “Best of Watercolor II”, and “Best of Color: Painting Color”. Nita Leland's book "Exploring Color Workshop" includes 3 of Harold's paintings. His painting, "Fall Farm" is in the permanent collection of Oregon State University and is included in OSU's publication, "This Bountiful Place".
"Acrylic Works 6", published in May 2019, features a Acrylic Ink painting by the artist.
In 2014 Harold won the Gold Medal in the “International Artist Magazine” competition with his painting "Full Circle".
His work was also featured in “American Art Collector Magazine” in 2014. 
In 2015 Harold was living and painting in Valencia, Spain where he demonstrated his work at the Valencia Watercolor Society, and was invited to paint with professional artists at locations throughout Spain. His travels included art trips to France and Italy. One of his recent works was acquired by the Valencia Watercolor Society for their permanent collection.
Harold earned a B.A. degree in Advertising Art & Design at Texas Tech University and has been a popular juror and workshop teacher for the past 35 years. 
 
Harold's paintings can also be seen at Earthworks Gallery, Yachats, Oregon, and Valley Art in Forest Grove, Oregon.
