Biography
Born in California and now living in Reno, Nevada, Carolyn has always loved nature and the natural landscape. Camping, hiking, trail riding on horseback, snowshoing, and traveling have all been a way to see beautiful natural scenery - the inspiration for Carolyn's art. The art journey has brought her to select pastel and oil painting mediums to produce her impressionistic landscapes paintings. It is the artist's wish to convey the feelings of serenity and awe of the beauty of the natural world, in the hopes of striking a familiar chord with the viewer. After starting a plein air painting group, Reno Tahoe Plein Air Painters, the artist has been painting weekly in the field, painting primarily in oil paints. You can see her plein air work under "Plein Air" in her portfolio on this website. Some work had a few finishing touches done in the studio, but most were completed on location.
Art Classes Offered:
In 2017 Carolyn began giving watercolor classes in her home studio and it was well-received and lots of fun for beginners. Since then, Carolyn has expanded her teaching program to include offering the same beginning class as well as continuing classes for the returning students. In addition, she has added "Introduction to Pastel", a 3-day series. Future plans include more pastel classes and beginning oil painting in the summer months. All of her classes offer materials provided. As students acquire their own materials, in the future she will offer classes for Intermediate artists. Open Studio:
