Mary is a professional artist, art instructor and owner of the Young Masters Art Center.   Mary received her comprehensive fine arts education at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and George Washington University with further study at Carol Vogel Studio and Pulido Studio (Numael and Shirley Pulido).  Mary received her professional masters certification through the GWU Professional Programs, is a certified Life Coach and has applied her knowledge of art, training and human emotion throughout her career in the arts.
I am known for my realistic and expressive paintings of people, birds and animals, as well as my love for 'the whimsy.'  I have a passion for the classical styles of the old masters particularly the stunning Dutch originals of Rembrandt, Vermeer and deHeem with their use of pure light, form and color.  I work from my art studio located in Kensington, Maryland.

Teaching Philosophy
Mary's teaching style reflects a love for both art and children.  Mary's gentle and structured style allows adults and children to flourish in their individuality while achieving competence in drawing and painting.  Parents and students are constantly amazed by the quality of the artwork and how accomplishments foster interest and self-confidence.
Mary's drawing instruction trains young and adult students to perceive an “alphabet of drawing” focused on the basic elements of shape that combine to form all objects.  By learning to view the world through these elements of shape and how to transcribe the information to paper, students become artists in their own right and develop their own unique style of realistic interpretation.  This method gives students structured information to improve visual perception and realistic drawing skills.  Comprehensive projects provide the structure and knowledge necessary for learning and helping to [...]
