Clint's Must-Read Articles for Artists - April 27 - May 3

by Clint Watson on 5/5/2008 2:25:26 PM

Dear artists,

Here are some great articles we've found on the internet over the past week that are directly applicable to helping you with art, marketing, inspiration and fine living:

Yet Another Reason to Avoid Facebook:

The popular social networking site allows users to add a variety of applications to their profile. . . But a malicious program, masquerading as a harmless application, could potentially harvest personal data.

A Secret to Success - Build Upon What You Build:

Here’s a ’secret’ that I think sets highly successful people apart (in all walks of life) from the rest of us. They don’t just take what they’ve got and build upon it. They then build upon what they’ve built upon and then build again upon that…. and so on. . . .

Sue Smith shows painters the value of tonal analysis:

One of my painting aspirations is to become a fabulous landscape painter. Well, at least a good one. But I've been producing work that's rather ... ho hum. So, under Slump's continued nagging I pulled out Classical Painting Atelier: A Contemporary Guide to Traditional Studio Practice, by Juliette Aristides. . . . .

Enjoy the advice from the minds of these insightful commentators.  We hope you found something inspirational or useful to your own art career.

I really get a lot from your newsletters and wish I had time to read every bit.
Could you please tell me if any articles relating to rejection from art shows are in the archives?
If not maybe you could consider one as I just got rejected for the first time and being fairly new to painting (I mainly sculpt) I am a bit shook
Thanks again for your information
Leila
