The Artist Says:
From parked cars to silos to surfboards, I am drawn to the abstract shapes found in urban and rural landscapes as well as simple, stripped-down images including a single figure or two.
I believe it's possible to create an interesting painting from just about any subject, as long as there is some dynamic interplay among the colors, some tension from shape to shape, and some mix of finished and unfinished areas to draw the eye. By applying oils over acrylics I can rapidly create many layers, and explore texture and line, as well. I am inspired by the work of Edouard Vuillard, Richard Diebenkorn, and Milton Avery.

Biography
During my forties, I stumbled into my career after my father gave me some paints he no longer needed. While living in LA, I found a a great series of workshops at Otis College of Art and Design taught by Franklyn Liegel. A job move with my husband and daughters in 2007 brought me to Bellevue, Washington. After earlier stints working in health care and independent bookstore ownership, I have completed my escape from the real world and am lucky enough to do what I like all the time. I have an MA and BA in English from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.
