Corn Harvest 2 Study by sheri farabaugh

Another study of families (in Peru) putting up corn for the winter. It is typically dried on the cob on a surface such as a roof, or the ground. This family had a lot of corn, so they had a large area in the field for drying.
Corn Harvest Study by sheri farabaugh

From our recent trip to Peru. I took most of my favorite shots from our moving bus. It is fall there and there were several families setting out cobs of corn to dry. The colors were wonderful.

Little Bit of Paradise by sheri farabaugh

I love the contrast of the black seeds with the orange papaya. But most of all I love papayas.
Out of Reach by sheri farabaugh

At a recent workshop, on another day in the 90's, I looked for some shade when lunchtime came around. I just happened to be under a apple tree. The apples were completely out of reach for me but not for my camera.

A view of Wind Lake while floating along in our kayak. That year the water was crystal clear (isn't always that way), and the plants below were as beautiful as any garden I've seen.

welcoming committee by sheri farabaugh

Another Brighton, Colorado scene. They looked friendly enough, but I was certainly outnumbered. The chain link fence kept it all civil. I've just about moved into my studio space there, I'll take the paints and paintings over tomorrow and get started. It'll be good to be away from the internet, garden, refridgerator.... This little daily study is $45 which includes shipping, and can be purchased by going to : http://sherifarabaughart.blogspot.com/

Little House at the End of the Field by sheri farabaugh

Sometimes you just need to shake it up a little. I was getting pretty tired of still lifes and needed to get outside and give plein air another try. I had so much fun with this one. Could it be that all that squinting at tomatos and oranges helped me out with my nemesis...plein air? I think the red underpainting might have given it a little boost. I'll try it again with a white canvas and see what I can do. To purchase this painting go to my blog at: http://sherifarabaughart.blogspot.com/ SOLD

I'm taking a portrait drawing class with a great teacher, Josh Clare. I guess I'd always drawn in pencil, and didn't realize what nice effects you can get with charcoal. I'm doing my best to channel my inner Fechin, and loving every minute of it.
