Art Marketing Ideas and Straight Talk about Selling Art, Marketing, Inspiration & Fine Living

An (Attached) Image is Worth a Thousand Words

by Clint Watson on 1/30/2006

Here's a simple, but effective marketing idea.  There's an artist with whom I communicate on a regular basis, Jim Wodark.  I feel like I have seen a great selection of Jim’s artwork, and as a potential collector, that is extremely important.  Collectors generally want to feel like they have a feeling for an artist’s entire body of work before they purchase a painting.  We’re a bit like a sports fan with a high-definition TV and a remote control; we want to see what’s on EVERY channel before we commit to watching a particular event.  I've never met Jim in person.  I've [...]

DON SAHLI - Drama Through Color and Texture

by Clint Watson on 1/26/2006

I happened across a web page full of thumbnails of Don Sahli's paintings and I just went crazy. I knew that I had just found another great Russian Impressionist, and I absolutely LOVE the Russian Impressionists. Imagine my surprise when I dug into Sahli's background and discovered that not only is he American, but that he started his education at the University of Texas in Austin (Hook 'em Horns! 2006 National Champs, winning the Rose Bowl in the best come-from-behind victory I've ever seen.)As fate would have it, Sahli had the opportunity to study with the Russian master, Sergei Bongart (perhaps [...]

Complimentary Marketing

by Clint Watson on 1/24/2006

Perusing the web for art as I often do to provide the day's denouement, I happened upon an interesting art marketing idea.I was enjoying the works of Utah artist, Keith Bond, when I was struck by a link on his site shouting, 'Win a Painting!'  Being a self-proclaimed art fanatic, I was intrigued.  After all I love paintings, and I REALLY love free!! (Note the extremely rare use of the DOUBLE exclamation point, denoting my extreme excitement at the prospect of a FREE painting.)  So with the excitement dripping from my mouse finger, I clicked. Here are the details of his offer. [...]

Logan Hagege

by Clint Watson on 1/15/2006

I typically gravitate to more traditional, representational me old fashioned. However, I've been fascinated with Logan's works for several years now. He paints with a sophistication and mastery that I normally have only seen in, shall we say, more "mature" artists. I'm always impressed with the subtle color combinations Logan employs, although his more recent works have a more "graphic" feel, at least to me. Either way, I love his work. I encourage you to see more of it.View Logan Hagege's Artworks:,Clint WatsonSoftware Craftsman and Art Fanatic P.S. - If you have comments about Logan's works, or wish to tell [...]
