bsherwin: Will you be involved with an upcoming art exhibit? Tell us about it. How have you prepared for the exhibit? Is there a general theme? Who will you be exhibiting with? Feel free to offer a link.
I will be entering two pieces in an art exhibit at Caldwell Arts Council in Oct., I am currently working on several paintings, I am not sure if there will be a central theme between the two. This is the second time I have entered as I am new to the public art community!
The next one we have coming up isn't until next year - I want one now! This is a one man show so there isn't a general theme. And no, we're not ready :)
We have the gallery space for three months which is lovely. One wall in the gallery is devoted to video showing artwork from the county's permanent collection - we're trying to hijack it so we can use it instead!
Exhibiting 2 pieces now at Historic USO Bldg, Wilmington, NC; Carolina Farmin-theme food/farms,4 pieces, Wilmington; NC Arboretum-oriental theme, 4 pieces. Upcoming shows are Art at Landfall, Art in Arboretum, Brunswick Arts Council Show at Sunset River Marketplace, Calabash, NC. I paint almost daily so usually have work available to fit a theme. I make a real effort to participate in every show possible. I truly love to paint, studio and plein air.
This year on September 15th I will be at the opening reception for my first solo show called "A Brush With Color."I've been working for over a year putting work together for this event by painting en plein air and creating large studio pieces. The paintings in the show will feature California landscapes and several still lifes painted in an Impressionist style. Yesterday I picked up the postcard announcements for the show and it hit me that it is really happening, there's no turning back. I'm starting to get a little nervous... Very best of luck Aaron, Jackie and Kim in your upcoming shows. I guess I am lucky that Wilmington is into "the arts" and various groups host many shows. It certainly is nice to have a venue in which to show your work.
In the discussion regarding "Will you be involved in an upcoming art exhibit?" I will be showing my art at the Red Dot show during Art Basel Miami, this December, in Miami, FLA. I will be exhibiting at the Artisan Direct Gallery. As many of you know, Art Basel Miami is held the first week in December, with the main attraction being held at the Miami Beach Convention Center. Outside of NY Fine Art Expo, this is it! It is an international event, of the first rank. In addition to NY, only Venice, London, and Basel, Switzerland offer the cream d' la creme of the art world. (Florence is catching up, however) And for those who have been there, you know that there is no way you can see everything offered in that one week. I am talking 12 hours per day of visiting galleries and art presentations for each of the seven days! And of course there is the activities at South Beach. My art will be shown in a magazine distributed locally, called "The Artist Showcase," so look for me there, and come and say hi.
