Requirements to Appear in the FASO Daily Art Show

There are some details that you must be sure to include about your artwork to be sure it is included in the FASO Daily Art Show.

Bottom Line:  You need to include (in addtion to the title of the work) at least one of the following: the medium, the size of the artwork, the collection on your site, or the price.  Preferably as many of them as possible.

The more information we can display to Daily Art Show viewers the better.

Why we require this information

When we first launched the Daily Art Show, any image uploaded to someone's art portfolio was considered a "piece of art."  However, we started to notice lots of photos of people's studio, their pets, their kids, their vacation photographs etc were appearing in the Daily Art Show.  Many people upload ALL of their images to their art portfolio, even though it's pretty simple to keep the art in the portfolio and the non-art images out of the portfolio.  So, we had to figure out a way to limit the Daily Art Show to real pieces of art.

Then we noticed that nobody ever adds a "medium", "size" or "price" to their vacation photographs.  So we changed the algorithm that calculates the Daily Art Show to require at least one of those pieces of information [1].  We figured that most artists, if they want to show and sell their art, would want their prospective buyers to know the medium, size and price of their art work.

It's worked very well, so, be sure you include that information on any pieces you want the system to consider for the Daily Art Show.

Sharing Art Enriches Life!

-------

[1]  The algorithm may change again in the future as needs evolve, the best bet is to include as much information as possible.  Preferably all of them:  Title, Medium, Size and Price.

Thanks for the info Clint! I don't think my pieces have been in the Daily and wondered how they were chosen.

Joyce, just upload art. You're automatically in as a FASO member.

Where do I see my work on Daily Art Show? Thanks

Joyce - on the day AFTER you upload the work at http://dailyartshow.faso.com

You can also sign up for the new daily art show newsletter at http://dailyartshow.faso.com/nl

soooo...ONLY when you post NEW work, on your own website....someone (a judge or equal) selects a piece..or not...and it MAY appear on Daily Art Show? A FASO member would then go to DAILY ART SHOW, online, look for their work by scanning and MAY find their own work???

Joyce.

No. When you post new work on your OWN website. The FASO system (an algorithm not a person) selects one to appear in the following day's Daily Art Show. It's not MAY find their work. You WILL find your work, it's just you won't know which piece the system selected (unless, of course, you only uploaded one and then it will be that one for sure).

The only way it would not appear is if the piece you uploaded did not meet the criteria outlined in this blog post.

Bottom line: if you upload art to your site, one piece of yours WILL be in the daily art show the next day.

Is there a way to see my uploaded pieces from several days ago....in the show, I mean?

Clint Watson

You could see past pieces by going directly to the page for that show, but there's currently no way to search. The past shows are in the form of http://dailyartshow.faso.com/YYYYMMDD

So yesterday (Halloween) was http://dailyartsho.faso.com/20121031

Clint...I tried the site you listed here and Cox could not find it. My question, repeat as before is : work for the Daily Art site is pulled from our own individual websites and either chosen or not to be added to this new site??? We do nothing except add work to our site? Are we told we are featured? Do we go to the site daily to check? Are only NEW works considered??? Sorry but these questions remain after asking a few times.

Clint Watson

I mistyped the site it's http://dailyartshow.faso.com

Work is pulled from your site. There is no "chosen or not" It IS automatically taken from your site and shown on this new site. Correct, you do nothing but add work to your site. At this time we don't have a specific notification each time you are featured but you will see referrals in your faso analytics and we made the general announcement that it is an automatic feature of faso to all clients. You don't have to go to the site daily, only on days after you upload something new. If you don't upload anything new, there will be nothing there. Yes only new works are elgible.

Sorry, I thought I had answered your questions previously.

Bottom line: if you upload art to your site, one piece of yours WILL be in the daily art show the next day.

Joyce, maybe this will help it make sense. YOu last uploaded art on June 14th. Here's the piece of yours that was in the daily art show on June 15th: http://dailyartshow.faso.com/20120615/909108 I checked your stats and you did have some traffic on the 15th and those days following from it. However, the stats weren't very good back then, we upgraded them in August, so future uploads will be much better on being able to track Daily Art Show traffic.

Thanks Clint. I saw it but still want to know: do we need to check every day to see if we are the chosen one? Do you only pick from new art additions to our site? How are they chosen and by whom? I did not know until now that my art was here...thanks

I feel like I've answered these questions, but I'll try a different take on the answers:

QUESTION: do we need to check every day to see if we are the chosen one?

ANSWER: If you upload art today, you WILL be in the show the next day. There is no "chosen one". EVERYONE in FASO who uploads art today will have one piece in the show the next day. You don't have to check on anything. It will happen automatically. If you simply want to verify that your artwork appears, then yes, you need to double check yourself.

QUESTION: Do you only pick from new art additions to our site?

ANSWER: Yes.

QUESTION: How are they chosen and by whom?

ANSWER: When you upload new art, our system automatically selects one piece. If you upload ONE piece today, then that will be the piece that appears in the next show tomorrow. If you upload a group of work, our system selects one. Almost always it's the most recent one (meaning the last one in the group that was uploaded). They are chosen by the computer automatically, not by a person based upon the process I attempted to describe here.

Thank you so much. You indeed answered ALL my questions and I can't tell you how happy I am to know what is going on. I also want to tell you Clint, one of the reasons I have always stayed with your particular company all this time is YOU! from the start I knew you cared and you always take time..even with those that have a hard time figuring it all out. Thanks again Joyce

I do not price my stuff because I prefer to interview clients personally, and I take personal commissions from people based upon that all the stuff I post is usually sold already. Besides is it not nicer knowing that there is something being made personally for you?

Thank you for the information about uploading my art on the the Daily Art Show. I tried to upload another painting and it did not go. Can I change my art piece during the week or do I have to keep the same one up for a long period of time?

Nancy Hunter
via faso.com
I uploaded a new art work and was not able to find it on the FASO Daily Art Show. I've been checking daily since this new art work was added. Additionally, how do I find the Daily Art Show from the FASO web site? Thank you.

Nancy Hunter
via faso.com
I have listed the title, medium, substrate and size. Yet I have not seen my art work posted on the FASO Daily Art Show. Thank you.

Nancy,

I see your work on the November 23rd Daily Art Show: http://dailyartshow.faso.com/20131123/1324424" target="_new" rel="NOFOLLOW">http://dailyartshow.faso.com/20131123/1324424

From the FASO home page, upper right, there are two links. One says "FASO Daily Art Show" - that's how you get to the daily art show. If you don't see the link, you can just go to http://dailyartshow.faso.com directly.

Thanks for your questions.

Thank you, Clint. Sorry for the inconvenience. Nancy

I wonder if it was a mistake to upload many pieces at once.
Sounds like only the last one on the list will be picked and shown.

Shall I remove them and post one each day?

So far I haven't seen any of my work on the DPW site.

Sharon Savitz

Yukselle, I was wondering the same thing. I uploaded a lot of images at once for a new site.
