                                                                    ARTISTS STATEMENT
I am a painter whose work is informed by the natural world through observation and fueled by imagination.  I am excited to explore and manipulate color complexions, along with the use of calligraphic line,  to capture the changing nature of our environment.

Layering is a large part of my process. Certain marks made on the canvas or paper at the beginning of a work are incorporated into the completed surface. The character and quality of the brushmarks, in the final moments, are significant in pulling all of the micro layers together, while the mark making and brushwork are what connect me to my inner voice. Completing a work that resonates with another person and allows them, even if just for a few moments, to lose themselves or have a meditative moment is of significant value to me.

It is my belief that art is the catalyst to the healing process of the human spirit. Lifting our thoughts and emotions to levels that transform our physical and spiritual well being.
