Artist Jean Stanley
I have been interested in drawing and painting since my earliest memories. When I was a teen I wanted to be a fashion designer. After maturing, marrying, and having a family, my prime interest became painting in oils. We had a fiberglass business in the material's early infancy. I became the art director-consultant. We did such things as decorative and structural items for the Alaska Ferry System; Seattle World's Fair; a 35 foot Santa Claus for Seattle, Idaho, and Alaska; dinosaurs for the Pacific Science Center; and two custom 48 foot sailboats; and numerous other items for homes, offices and business.
My paintings are in private collections in Washington, California, Oregon and Hawaii. I have completed several commissioned paintings also. I have had exhibits in several Washington cities and colleges.
I was blessed to have an uncle who was an artist. He made his living as a commercial artist but was a fine artist as well. He taught me as I was growing up. And alternately, I studied art during school and college. I have been influenced by artists such as Richard Schmidt, John Howard Sanden, Robert Bateman, Greg Beecham and Pino to name a few. Every artist I admire becomes an influence. And I continue the quest to grow and improve. It's just never finished!
For the past ten years I have been displaying my art in local establishments, city halls of neighboring cities, colleges and churches and have concentrated on private sales and commissions. After creating my website through FASO, I have a wider coverage and have started entering their competitions. I am pleased that my "Trillium" was selected as part of the FAV15% in December 2014.
