Biography

Whether painting a portrait, a still life or a landscape, Donna paints in a realistic/naturalistic style with sensitivity and thought.  Her portraits are a balance of light, color and emotion with her subjects crossing the boundaries of age, ethnicity and gender.  Her still life and landscape works invite a connection between the viewer and the objects or setting. Donna's medium of choice is oil, but she also works with pastel, charcoal and colored pencil.  As she paints she is constantly aware of the detail, the color, the values and especially the drawing. After retiring from teaching, Donna could not get away from the school scene!  She pursued her interest in art by taking a drawing class at Cameron University being taught by Katherine Liontas-Warren, practicing artist/instructor; and a whole new world opened up to her.  She has since taken more drawing and painting classes.  She has also studied under Mike Wimmer, nationally renowned illustrator.
