Artist Carol Maguire
Carol Maguire holds a Bachelor’s in Art History from Fairfield University and the Sorbonne, she has furthered her studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the Barnes Foundation and Fleisher Memorial. Maguire started painting full time and showing her work after 9/11/2001. Her extensive travels have brought her to India, Peru, Romania, Guatemala and Honduras where she has taught her artistic skills to the indigenous women. She has worked as a consultant for the State Department where Maguire’s special skills involved identifying the materials available and the skills of the artisans…and blending them to design a program of products to make. She now teaches paintings workshops in Mexico, the Bahamas, Tuscany and at her home outside of Philadelphia.
Prior to her full time painting Carol was the design director of a high-end doll company, she has taught doll making in the Transylvanian Alps and in the Andes of Peru. Carol’s quilt designs have been featured in books and magazines for Better Homes and Gardens, and she has designed dinnerware for Waterford-Wedgewood and Lenox China.
In 2009 Carol and her daughter Amanda Clancy founded Carol Maguire Home, a line of table linens inspired by Carol’s colorful, vibrant oil paintings. (www.carolmaguirehome.com)
